I’ve always been drawn to window seats. Somehow they always seemed to invite me to curl up and daydream  or snuggle up with a soft throw, a cup of tea and a good book.

Here’s Mine

When we built our new home I finally got a window seat. It’s bigger than I imagined it over the years – twelve feet long. I can easily stretch out alone to gaze at the lake or go toe to toe with someone for a cozy conversation.

I bought 4″ thick high density foam for making the two 6′ cushions and added almost a dozen toss pillows to create a plush place to land.

In addition to inviting me to take a minute, my window seat provides great storage thanks to three lift-off lids under the cushions.

Got a Window? Have a Seat!

Window seats work in almost every room in the house.  It seems you just need a window and the desire to create a welcoming space.  A window seat can fit in a small, intimate space  just large enough for one – or it can span an length of wall so it’s big enough to provide extra seating in the room.

The end of a hallway becomes a cozy get-away for one person with the addition of a window seat and a privacy curtain.
