Some of these chairs I find creative and useful and a great testament to reuse/recyle. Some are just weird. Sometimes a weird chair (or “art” chair or piece of furniture) can really turn a corner of a room into a conversation corner – and not because you sit there to talk. Take a gander at these……

Updated director's chair

Chair suited for a conference room or dining table

A spiffy new take on the bentwood rocker idea – great for a conference room or very modern dining room. Designed by V. Velikov (Bulgaria).

Laminate lounge chair

This chair by Yu Ito (US) is a marvel in design – notice how the arms are just the body pieces rotated – which saves in manufacturing costs.

Cardboard chair

Made entirely from cardboard this chair, designed by K. Achkov (Bulgaria), is inspired by Frank Gehry’s furniture.

Paint and recycle old chairs.

Painting old chairs to update them isn’t a new idea, but this fresh approach encourages us to think outside our paintbox.

Now we enter the “odd” territory. Sorry, but nothing about this looks comfortable or appealing. Looks kinda like a straight jacket.

Named the "Human Chair"

A little creepy, but definitely fits the “art furniture” category. I’m not sure about the comfort level, but then I don’t think it’s designed for comfort. Looks like it might be a little hard to get up out of – if you don’t mind sitting over those legs! Designed by SAMAL Design (France).
