Over the past few weeks we’ve looked at polka dots, stripes, plaids, florals and today we’re seeing stars! Not the Hollywood type – but the home decor type!
Star Struck Rooms
When I was looking for room decor featuring stars, the bedroom proved to be the most prevalent. Wonder if that has to do with going to bed when the stars are out – starry, starry nights? Hmmmm….

Starfish beautifully frame a large mirror, providing quite a conversation starter in the entry to this home.
Stars Shine On Accessories
Although perhaps not as prevalent as the other decor graphics we’ve recently explored, stars appear on accessories for almost every room in the house.

Star light, star bright…lighting options range from a red, white and blue country styled star table lamp – to a sleek, contemporary, stylized star pendant – to glistening, romantic, glass star votive candle holders – and finally to a twinkling star duet nightlight.

Instead of stars overhead you’ll have stars underfoot when you use either this runner or area rug.

I just moved back to the lone star state of Texas and I will be incorporating a lot of these ideas as I bring in some of the items with stars on them into my home.
The bowl that you have pictured there with the stars on it fits one idea I have for the kitchen perfectly.
The star fish ring looks like something my daughter would enjoy.

Susana:
I found a mirror similar to the one in today’s blog
http://www.coastaldecorshop.com/page/coastal/PROD/new/BGC-015 for $299.
I think you could make one of your own for a lot less money…but an
investment of time and patience.
To make a starfish mirror find an inexpensive mirror the size and shape
you want and purchase starfish at a local craft shop or online. Then glue
the largest starfish in a single layer around the mirror. Go all the way
around with a layer of starfish and then repeat, probably 2 more times.
don’t stack them as you go around – do one layer at a time – working from
the largest up to the smallest.. One type of glue that would probably work
is Gorilla Glue.
If you decide to try it be sure to send us photos of the completed
project!

This is getting spooky…I have at least four of the items shown in your column today in my log cabin on the lake! This makes me think, “I must be doing something right!!!” THANKS!
I bet you’re doing lots of things right! And, you’re our first official “star decorator!” Thanks for letting us know.
