I was just surfing for fun and then I found your web site. Helpful article. I find this information useful. Thanks a lot for the insights.

I just discovered your blog and I’m thrilled! So much great information. I love the look of flat finish paint, but, I confess, I have so much trouble getting any little mark off the wall without lifting some of the paint. I only recently discovered flat enamel paint. I used it in a bathroom and it is incredible! I have the flat finish look that I love and when I wipe it with hot soapy water all those marks come right off without any damage to the finish–yay!
Sounds like the flat enamel paint is the perfect solution for your bathroom. I use the satin finish a lot in my home now but I know in my last house I experienced the flat paint being hard to clean without some of the paint coming off. In the other areas of your home you might give the Magic Eraser (seen the ads with Mr. Clean?) a try as my mom has great luck with it on flat painted walls.

Cindy,
Good tips. When our house gets painted, it’s yours truly who does the painting. Guess I should give my husband some credit as he helped me to paint the kitchen (which needs to be redone).
I employ professional painters throughout most the house except for select bedrooms and the kitchen. I enjoy painting but like most everyone it’s the taping I dislike. Your suggestion of large swatches is good. I have always done just that but not as cleanly as your husband. Have to say the kitchen would not be painted by me again – too much taping, more than any other room.
Though I don’t always comment I read all your newsletters! Thanks again to you and Terrie.
Thanks for chiming in with your painting experience. I’m glad you enjoyed the post. Terrie and I always enjoy comments so keep them coming!
