I’m often asked about what the “hot, new” color is, what the color trends are for this year.  And there’s always an answer: purples and grays for now, but in 6 months, who knows?  There are people who make their living predicting what colors we’ll want next in our homes and in our fashions.  And it’s fun to try on the newest, trendiest colors or to browse the current shelter magazines and shake our heads at the pictures of a whole room done in shades of purple.  The reality is that most people revert to tried and true, easy-to-live-with colors.

Green is one of those perennial favorites.  However, there are so many shades of green that each season we decorators can trot out a new shade, a new name for an old color and encourage people to reinvent their rooms around the newest green.  Moss is in this year.  A natural, deep yellowish green (reminiscent of avacado green if you ask me), it’s extremely easy to live with and to build a room around.  It’s a comforting, warm green that actually can function as a neutral.  Most colors will work with it beautifully, just as in nature.  Check out my inspiration board featuring Moss Green and start imagining how you could incorporate it into your home.
