Don’t you find it so easy to get caught up in the sometimes frantic pace of the holidays? The thing is, we want to do everything – we want to visit with neighbors, party with co-workers, have quiet nights together with loved ones, have a perfectly decorated home, mail our Christmas cards early, give hand made gifts, bake fresh cookies and still arrive on Christmas morning energized and enthused about the special day. It’s tough to do.
TAKE TIME TO REFLECT…
Today’s my birthday (we won’t even THINK about how many years…..) so I want to give you all a gift – as you may remember I collect quotes, so today I want to share a couple of my favorites – the ones I come back to when I’m feeling overwhelmed and need a little reminder of all that’s great in my life.
“Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend. Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today and creates a vision for tomorrow.” – Melody Beattie
I’ve kept this poem for years and every time I read it I think of my friend Cindy – cuz she knows it’s all true!
“The one who knows me inside out, the ear to listen and never doubt;
The smile to say “You’ll be okay”, the laugh that always makes my day;
The shoulder that is always there, the little things that show you care;
The heart that has seen me through the years, the one who understands my tears;
The timeless bond that never ends, I find in you … my true friend.” – Unknown
And, finally, we can always depend on Carl Reiner for a touch of humor: “A lot of people like snow. I find it to be an unnecessary freezing of water.” I absolutely agree! (not a big fan of snow
) I hope those of you in snowy climes are enjoying all those snowflakes – you can keep ‘em.
PS – Have you left a comment on one of our posts yet? If not, now’s the time. Those wreaths do look cool and I might try one next year – good tip to know that you really do need to glue. However, using it on your table is a great alternative! Merry Christmas.
Thanks for all the wonderful decorating suggestions for the holidays. I followed a link to one of the other websites and made one of those ornament wreaths that are the thing this year. It looks great, but doesn’t seem stable enough to hang (I ran out of hot glue so didn’t get the tops glued onto all the ornaments and they will pop right off) so it’s a candle ring on my coffee table!
