Happy Monday! This is the start of a fabulous week here at Your Decorating Hotline! We’ve traveled a long way in getting this blog up and running and sharing tips and inspiration along the way. 200 Posts! Over 6 months of late nights, photo searches, information research and more have lead us down the path of sharing, building a community of readers and having a blast! Our reward? You….our faithful readers. To thank you for following along and learning and sharing with us, we have arranged for some great home decor giveaways this week.
Tomorrow’s giveaway is sponsored by ETSY shop owner Don Shan, a talented artist. His shop is full of art prints of his original paintings encompassing a variety of subjects and a variety of styles – something to suit everyone. Visit his shop to see more samples and choose your favorite. He’s generously giving a 11 x 14 art print of the winner’s choice valued at $18…and ready for framing. How do you win? Just leave us a comment on tomorrow’s post before 8pm Pacific – we’ll announce the winner on Wednesday.
Since Wednesday is our actual 200th post day, we have 2 great giveaways and 2 lucky winners. ETSY shop Bosheree08 is giving a handpainted sign ($29 value) with your family name on it. You have a choice of styles and colors, so visit the shop and see what’s available. I know you’ll want to have one of these for your entry.
Or you could be the recipient of this lovely linen pillow from Park and Beach (value $35). Doesn’t it just shout spring? Just leave us a comment on Wednesday to have a chance at either one of these great giveaways.
A perfect personalized touch for a child’s room, a guest room, your entryway – or how about a special gift? This custom wall decal is perfect for renters too because it easily comes off with no damage to your walls! Donated by Expressing You, you’ll get to choose colors and styling so visit the ETSY shop to see all your choices, then come back and leave a comment on Thursday. Winner will be announced Friday.
What Could be More Fun Than Giveaways? ….SPRING!
I heard on the news a couple days ago that spring hit Colorado hard. So much wet snow fell that it wasn’t possible to get up to the ski areas! Officially it’s SPRING, though Mother Nature doesn’t appear to be totally on board yet. In lieu of a “what I did on my summer vacation” essay, I’m submitting a photo essay – “What Spring Is to Me”. What’s your favorite signs of spring?
Spring is tulips – and hyacinths, rhododendrons and hydrangeas, pussy willow and cherry blossoms.
Spring is outdoor walks – enjoying the renewal of green and being outside in the fresh air (without a coat!). Spring in the desert means Joshua trees are actually showing some green instead of shades of brown.
Spring is rainy days (my shout out to Seattleites) – rain brings all that lush green, so it’s hard to complain.
Spring is pretty floral fabric – use fabric remnants for pillows or runners to put a touch of spring in any room.
Spring is flowering branches brought inside – cherry blossoms, forsythia, crab apple, quince, magnolia, lilac. Prune your shrubs and bring those lovely cut branches inside to enjoy. Cut them early and force the blooms for an earlier “spring fix”.
Dainty orchids displayed in the Woven Nest Bowl from Pottery Barn is a simple way to bring the feeling of spring into your home. You could also find (or make) containers with a floral motif and fill with flowering branches (silk or real) then sit back and dream of warmer days.
What says spring to you? Is your area showing signs of spring yet or are you still buried in snow and cold? Do you change your decor to welcome spring?
