Just a quick note of inspiration to start the day:  a quote from one of my favorite designers:

“Rooms must start with an emotion; without a personal investment, they turn cold.”   – Vincente Wolf

My interpretation?  Decorate from your heart and infuse your rooms with your keepsakes and things that matter to you.  Follow the rules of good design but make sure your personality shines through.  You want a well designed room, not a copy of a magazine picture.  Draw inspiration from those magazine pictures or TV shows, but implement those ideas through your own filter.

Vincente Wolf is a master of monochromatic (tones of all one color) design and he is continually experimenting with proportion and an eclectic mix of furnishings.  His rooms are never boring and always have elements of surprise so that even the most formal rooms don’t feel stuffy.  See his inspirational book on My Bookshelf page.
