1-all things markThis is a home decorating website.  We’re here primarily to inform and help you solve your decorating dilemmas.  But, we’re also here to inspire and give you ideas to get you moving or at least get you thinking / dreaming.  Today and periodically in the future, I’m going to share a purely inspirational post.  Today focuses on zebra prints - currently a really hot trend.  Though it’s been around for awhile, I feel it’s definitely trendy, not classic, so I wouldn’t advise investing lots of money in zebra furnishings unless you REALLY love the look; instead, add a pillow, some trim, a chair or two that you can recover later.  Enjoy the WOW of it now, but be prepared to replace it soon as the fickle trends of home decor shift.

Adventurous Zebra Underfoot

Let’s start with some of the very cool photos I’ve found showing zebra print in all its glory.

Of course, zebra is everywhere and most frequently found on the floor.  Printed or woven, furry or smooth, it’s a pattern that is very graphic, dramatic, high contrast and actually kind of fun and easy to live with.

Don’t feel you have to be rigidly bound to the usual black or brown colorways of a zebra print – look how fun this lime green version is!

This beautiful entry vignette uses a discreet and elegant touch of animal print to greet guests.  This would be so easy to change out as the trend wanes and you’re ready for something new.

This rustic room is a perfect place to have dining seats covered in a zebra print; obviously it reinforces the theme of the artwork.  (another easy-to-recover later option)  Also notice how the rug introduces a whole different feeling and some great warm colors to counter balance the graphic nature of the zebra print.

What a great accent chair!  Again, not bowing to the usual black and white zebra look but updated with a great gold.  Even the profile of the classic wingback has been tweaked to give it a little whimsical flair.
